You know how most school terms just ease on in.
Well, this one has dived, head first and is showing no signs of slowing down.
Throw in an uber busy 12 year old, a 6 year old who takes three times as long to do anything a normal person would do, a masters degree to complete, a husband whose work has just gotten crazy busy and WHAM!
That’s our life and I feel like I’m going to SCREAM
And then I got this……
A simple, calming, gorgeous photograph on my Instagram feed.
This is Jude. Jude is 2.
Jude is sitting on a bench, under a tree, in the park and the caption to this photo was…..
“Mummy, This is a lovely, cosy spot to sit and tell you I love you.”
That’s what calm, beautiful, 2 year old Jude said to his Mum as she took this photo.
As I was scrolling through, multi tasking again as I waited for my daughter to finish at the physio, I laughed out loud. I laughed at the simplicity of Jude’s outlook. As I rushed from one appointment to the next. As I rushed from meeting to meeting, from school to ballet to tae kwon do, from bathtime to bedtime to study time.
I looked at Jude’s photograph and laughed.
I laughed because it took a two year old and his ability to see the beauty in a simple everyday park bench under a tree, to make me stop, slow down and take a breath.
It didn’t take long to get caught up in the busyness again. I arrived at school the next morning, the day raced on, my kids buzzed around me as we dropped off here and picked up there. My mind races….but then it stops on Jude.
And I’m reminded that this, right now, is a lovely cosy spot to stop, slow down and take a breath.
